Enfant Terrible Minoan Lines and Low Noise II are the new 2015 ORC World Champions in class A and C. Cape Horn Engineering is proud of the result, having been involved in the development of both boats. Enfant Terrible is a TP52 from 2008, the owner Alberto Rossi consulted us for CFD analysis, performance prediction and ORC handicap optimisation last year. The boat also won the 2014 title in Kiel. Low Noise II is a new design from Matteo Polli, with whom we have worked closely in the CFD and performance prediction. Congratulations to both teams!

Congratulations to Sir Keith Mills and his Invictus Team as well as to designer Jason Ker on their Round the Island Race win in their brand new Ker40+. We are very proud to see that the CFD simulations carried out by Cape Horn Engineering in combination with Ker’s innovative optimisation methods resulted in a winning package. We hope to see the Invictus do another „horizon job“ in the upcoming IRC nationals.

Cape Horn Engineering has secured a new contract with Ben Ainslie Racing and has become a Portsmouth-based Ltd. What began as a cooperation a few years ago has now culminated in a solid new partnership between Rodrigo Azcueta, the founder of CHE, and Matteo Ledri and PLUS Italy. Together they will spear-head BAR´s CFD activities back where Cup history began. “It is a huge undertaking, for which we will go beyond our limits.“

ONE, TWO, THREE! Our three boats fill the podium in Auckland after sweeping leg 4 of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011/2012! This moves Groupama Sailing Team into second place overall, 5 points ahead of Camper/ETNZ.

Team Telefónica wins the third leg of the Volvo Ocean Race 2011/2012 having already won the previous 2 ocean legs and the in-port regatta at Cape Town. Team Telefónica leads the scoreboard with 95 points, 15 points more than the 2nd placed team.
CHE was responsible for the complete Hydro & Aero CFD design program for Team Telefónica, Puma Ocean Racing and Groupama Sailing Team.

Cape Horn Engineering starts working for Artemis Racing Team, Challenger of Record for the 34th America's Cup in San Francisco 2013.
CHE runs the complete Hydro & Aero CFD design program for Artemis Racing Team. This includes Hull, Appendage, Soft Sail, Wing and Windage studies.

Following the wins of the last two editions of the Volvo Ocean Race, Juan Yacht Design and Cape Horn Engineering have joined forces again to come up with designs for no less than 3 teams in the 2011/12 edition. Cape Horn Engineering is the sole CFD provider for these campaigns, running both the hydrodynamic and aerodynamic CFD program for Team Telefónica, Puma Ocean Racing and Groupama Sailing Team. Ericsson 4 wins the 6th leg of the Volvo Ocean Race 2008/2009 and extends their overall lead to 13 points.

Ericsson 4 breaks the 24 hour distance monohull speed record and wins the first leg of the 2008/2009 Volvo Ocean Race. The previous title holder had been ABN AMRO TWO with 562.96 nm, set at an average speed of 23.45 kts. Ericsson 4 set the new 596.6 nm record at an average speed of 24.85 kts, 6% faster than the previous record.
